One Coach for the Mountain Bike Team Deadline: June 30, 2010 or until position filled
ANNOUNCEMENT: The United States Deaf Cycling Association (USDCA) is pleased to announce an opening for the coaching position for each USA Deaf Cycling team and Mountain Bike team, starting immediately. The coach's term will continue until the end of 2013 Deaflympics in Athens, Greece. He will be expected to participate in a 1 to 1 1/2 week training camp prior to the Deaflympics.
All application shall submit a resume, letter of interest and two references to the USDCA coach selection committee by June 30, 2010 or until position filled. A 5-minute long videotape showing's sign language competency should also be included in the application packet.
The responsibilities of the coach are as follow:
(1) to prepare the cycling team for any international competition
(2) to coach the USA cycling team for the 2013 Deaflympics in Athens
(3) to recruit deaf cyclists for the national team
(4) to develop cyclists' skills to the fullest
(5) to coach the team during competition periods
(6) to monitor team cyclists training between competitions
(7) to provide clinics and training to potential cyclists
(8) to evaluate cyclists' skills, condition, and endurance/stamina for placement on the national team
(9) to possess expressive and receptive sign communication competency throughout the term.
This coaching position is unique because of its relationship with athletes who are deaf and their primary communication is through sign language which plays a significant role in developing relationships with cyclists. In addition the coach should be able to demonstrate knowledge of deafness and expressive/receptive sign communication skills.
Coach selection for the international competition will be subject to the USADSF Board for approval.
